Tips for a Tidy Kitchen Space

Families spend a considerable amount of time cooking, preparing meals and eating in the kitchen. Therefore, this space must be well kept and always clean to drive away pests and insects and to keep it germ-free to ensure the family’s good health.

Here are several tips on how to keep your kitchen clean and tidy.

Make a habit of separating the wet and dry garbage. Place two trash bins for each purpose. Wet garbage attracts insects and pests, so take this out of the house on a daily basis.

Don’t leave plates and other dishes to drip dry.  Wipe them with a clean paper towel before storing them.

Use separate sponges for dish washing and wiping counter tops  Wipe dry the sink, faucet, table and counter tops after use.

Clean the stove tops or the oven after each use. Wipe away the spills and grease. Keeping it clean will also prolong its life.

Mop the kitchen floor twice a day, in the morning and before you retire at night. Use commercial cleaner or the solution of water and white vinegar to kill germs.

To prevent molds to build up, always inspect the underside of the kitchen sink. Make the area always dry and clean to prevent also the roaches from thriving in it.

Get rid of counter clutters, arrange the electrical wires of your small appliances like coffee maker, microwave and more on the counters. You can use wire or cable clips which can be bought from electrical stores or simply use a rubber band to manage wire clutter.

Keep an organized pantry, follow the first in first out rule in canned and bottled food storage.

Discard old food from the refrigerator and clean it regularly.

Keep pots and pans and other kitchen utensils in their proper places.

Make your kitchen a happy and inviting space by keeping it spick and span.
