February 15, 2011, my eldest son JM turned 21 years old.  Reminiscing the yesteryears, I am teary eyed while looking at his pictures when he was still very young.  I can still remember how I felt when I gave birth to him, the happiness, the excitement and the fear of being a first time mom.  JM JM is an introvert, he is the shy type.  Through years of encouragement and full support he learned to come out of his shell.   He is so sweet and intelligent like his younger brother.  Being responsible is one of his inherent traits that I am so proud of.  He personally helps in the family business without being told.  He immediately applied for a job after he had graduated the B.S. IT (Bachelor of Science in Information Technology) course last May 2010, and luckily he was immediately hired too.  He always prioritizes our family.  He told me that he has his time table, the reason why he is not yet into a relationship.  I smiled and felt relieved when I heard him say that, for I am not yet

Being the only girl in the family, I am always pampered by my boys (my husband and two sons).  I am the queen of their hearts and the only girl date they had during Valentine’s Day, lol.  I am very appreciative of whatever they give, for little things mean a lot to me.  Frankly, I do not expect much of what I will receive, what matters to me is their love and presence during celebration of occasions.  My first born, JM surprised me with three red roses very early in the morning yesterday.  He usually comes home at around 8 a.m. because of his night shift schedule in his job. While giving me the flowers he hugged me tight and greeted me saying “I love you Mommy”.  Oh my! I am really very touched, I am so happy! three red roses from JM  Because it’s a weekday, my husband went to work for his Monday meetings at the office.  At 12 noon, he went home carrying a card and a cake.  Another surprise for the day!  The valentine card he gave me is one of my treasured gifts.  The message

To bear a child is the most precious heavenly gift a woman can receive.  Incomparable and unparalled  sense of happiness overwhelms the heart of a mother.  To love, to care, to see them grow and to cherish every moment with our kids are immeasurable deeds of a parent. This writing is warmly dedicated to a boy who’s turning 3 years old this February 14.  Meet Austin Nathaniel Serrano, born February 14, 2008, the only son of Carlos Serrano and my friend Christine Pham, who’s diagnosed with Advanced Stage of Bilateral Retinoblastoma Stage D - R eye with vitreous seeding and stage E - L eye with a detached retina on  August 25, 2009. Austin Yes, Austin is fighting and struggling for his life from this cancer disease.  He cannot see a thing anymore at the moment.  Being a mother, my heart seem to torn apart the moment I learned about Austin’s condition.  I cannot help myself crying while reading my friend’s journal in Austin’s website.  This bumpy journey that their family goes

A woman with a very strong faith in God, strong willed, a mother who has unwavering love for her children, full of patience, optimistic, industrious, and a homebody are the qualities that best describes my Mom. My Mom Five years ago, she was diagnosed with a herniated disc in the lumbar 4 and 5 of her spinal column.  The reason why she’s suffering severe lower back pain and can hardly walk at times.  This is the biggest blow that came into our life.  The surgical operation plus the titanium screws needed to reconstruct her lower spine was so expensive, and we need to accumulate the cash needed in the soonest possible time.  Thankfully, due to the concerted effort of our family, my siblings and my mom’s sisters, nieces and nephews, we were able to pull in together the hard cash needed for the procedure she needed to undergo.  Money has not been the only problem at that time, because she’s already old and having a low body resistance is what frightened me so much.  Despite of everyth

Yahmir is an avid fan of Batman since he was a year old.  He's been watching Batman movies in DVDs every now and then.  I remember when he was 3 years old, I heard him reciting the lines in the movie while watching it, for he already had memorized the lines and sequence of the story (lol).  He had collected numerous Batman action figures and Batman car toys. Yahmir with Batman when he was in grade 4 Batman Cars JM and Yahmir are also collecting Lego and Mega Blocks.  They are so focused when playing with these building blocks.  It enhances their skill of creativeness, discovery and exploration. Lego Lego and Mega Blocks JM is a collector of  Zoids toys, a collectible machine.  These Zoids model kits are deemed to be amazing machines taking animal forms with amazing powers. Last  January 16, 2011, my Dad had turned 69 years old.  Me and my sisters planned a week ago about giving him a surprise birthday bash.  A simple yet memorable birthday celebration for our father. We all came to our parents’ house before lunch bringing potluck foods to feast on, cake, ice cream, “pansit”, different viands, with wine and brandy to complete the gala. My Dad, a loving and responsible husband and father is a man with dignity.  He is a jack of all trade.  He taught us simple house repairs when we were still young, like replacing a busted lamp, changing a leaking faucet and many more. He is the one who taught us how to iron clothes the proper way. He managed to endure the hardships in working abroad to let us finish our studies. He is a hands-on Dad not only to us his daughters but also to his grandchildren.  Every time, any of us gives birth, he and my mom are always present.  He is the first one we will call on, if there’s something that needs to be fixed in our homes

Hello! I am Joy, a housewife and a mother of two boys, now ages 20 and 11. JM, my eldest son is a graduate of B.S. Information Technology and presently employed. Yahmir, my youngest son is at grade V, as of this writing. “Family first”, is my motto. Above is a picture of my family, my loving and very responsible husband Noi is a Swine Management Specialist, he is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine graduated at the University of the Philippines,1971. I am a B.S. Tourism graduate at the University of Santo Tomas, 1988. We enjoy our quality bonding time during weekends, either we go malling, or stay at home and watch a good movie, or do other activities wherein the whole family is involved. Reading and surfing the web is one common interest that my family loves to do.
