Set the Mood. Arrange your living room furniture to provide ample moving space and comfortable seating. You may also open up doors that lead to your patio so that your guest can move freely and enjoy fresh air if they want. You can also offer smoking guest with electronic cigarettes as great alternatives for their cigarette breaks. Create a playlist of soothing music to encourage your guest to relax, but keep volume at a minimum so that they can converse and chitchat.

Set a Theme. Preparing food and drinks become much easier if you set a theme. You can choose and create your own housewarming party idea. If you have a beach theme, you can simply go for fruity wines, cocktails, beer and water for drinks. Food should be simple as well, guests will be quite disappointed with a host who keeps on disappearing because of she needs to check on some elaborate recipe. Prepare a selection of finger foods and if it’s a dinner party, you can just have one appetizer, main course with salad, dessert and drinks.

Set Up Some Games or Activities. Find activities, games or movies that go with your theme. For beach party theme, you may also play beer pong or watch movies such as Surf Up, Blue Crush, Forgetting Sarah Marshall or 50 First Dates!

Entertaining friends at home doesn’t have to be costly to be fun and enjoyable. Whatever occasion you are celebrating you can save more when you carefully consider your options and prepare ahead of time. And don’t forget to introduce friends and guest that are not yet acquainted with each other.
