Design Ideas for Small Living Rooms

You probably can’t stop pinching yourself to test your lucidity.  It’s because you can hardly believe that you’re not dreaming, that you’re turning the key, unlocking the door to your new pad.  Finally you have a place you can call your own.  Although your living room may seemingly not be big enough to do a decent burpee, you can still do something to make it look spacious and comfortable to move around in.

Go glass.  Opt for glass pieces of furniture, as these reflect light, giving off the illusion of space.  And because they’re see-through, it has a barely-there effect to it.

Modular matters.  Choose modular types of furniture, such as an L-shaped sofa.  This is something you can fit snugly in a corner of your living room, while still giving enough seating space.

Storage makes sense.  Instead of the usual coffee table, you can get one of those ottomans which double up as a box where you can stash stuff away.  Try to maximize empty spaces around the living room by setting up shelves along the side of a wall, for instance.

Wispy window treatments work.  You’re lucky if you have a big window in your living room.  Instead of going for heavy curtains or blinds, choose light and sheer fabric as drapes.  Bright light entering the room makes it look big, naturally.

Faint flooring is fab.  Whatever type of floor you have, an area rug will add character and texture to your living room.  Choose one in a light color.

Just because your living room is small, doesn’t mean you should scrimp on comfort and style.  You can bet that even the best Interior Designer in London will tell you that.  With a little imagination and ingenuity, you can transform your limited living room space into a haven of movement and style.
