Teaching Kids Honesty

If you will notice a child begins to make believe and lie when they reach the toddler stage.   The formative years of a child begins in the age of zero-five.   During this age, they become aware and curious of what’s happening around them, they mimic the things they see and hear and because of their virgin minds, they still cannot distinguish what is right and what is wrong. A crucial stage which lay the foundation of the whole life of a child.   It is very important for us to guide and teach them to be more emotionally stable.   A child who feels being loved has the less chance to misbehave. “Haplos ng pagmamahal” (showing affection through touch or simply the touch of love) is just one way how to show and let your child feel that he is well-loved and taken cared of.   The best foundation for discipline is love. One of the first things we should teach them is how to be honest.   We can teach honesty anytime through their daily activities, explaining carefully for their little

Informational Toys for Kids

Children loves to play and it is beneficial to them if they will play on educational toys at an early age for they will learn as they play. We as parents need to know that functional and constructive playing takes a vital part in developing a healthy mind and body.   Informational  toys will enhance a natural child’s curiosity, creativeness, and cognitive and logical thinking that will lead him to explore possibilities and learn to test each one. In these simple playing activities, the child is learning basic problem solving skills while discovering and exploring the colors, numbers, letters, sizes and shapes.   Repetition of playing with these educational toys, the child gains confidence in his abilities which will encourage him to do new things. Aside that playing is fun, it will also keep him busy while you can finish some of your house chores as well. Here are suggestions of less- expensive educational toys that you may buy. Child-Proof Your Home

If you’re having a baby or a toddler, it is best recommended to child-proof your homes to keep them always safe and away from unwanted accidents. The smallest person in the house can occupy the most space and can create the most chaotic mess, lol.   So in order for us and our child’s toys live happily ever after, we have to think of an organized clean up strategy. These tips will help make your clean-ups easier and faster Bedroom Position the crib away from the window. Pull electrical cords away from the crib Install window guards, window grills are very important, especially if the bedroom is at the second floor of your house. Place edge or corner guards/bumpers for tables or chairs. Before, I used the easy stick on rubberized end or corner guards. Re-position your make-up kit, perfumes etc. on a higher shelf of your dresser Use a large bin or plastic container for his frequently played toys  Use floor rubber mats to areas where your kid play most of the time

Grooming Keys for Men Skin Care

Men also suffer from different skin problems. I learned the proper way to embellish and improve men skin through experience.  My three boys (my husband and two sons) frequently complain of different skin issues. Oily skin is the common problem among my two children. It gives their faces a greasy shine.  Yahmir once said that it look gross, lol. Oily skin is prone to blackheads and pimple breakouts.  Being worried of acquiring acne to cover their faces, I brought them to my dermatologist for proper evaluation and check up. My skin doctor taught them procedures and tips on the proper men skin care. They were advised to avoid harsh soaps and cleansers. We have learned that too much face-washing can cause redness and tenderness, which in turn makes your skin produce more oil.  Also there is a need to exfoliate regularly because dead cells can accumulate and clog pores, then follow with a light moisturizer to hydrate. My husband is dealing with dark under-eye circles caused by la

Parenting Teenagers

My eldest son JM, is already 21 years old.   Gladly, I was able to surpass the teenage parenting with him with not so much problems encountered.   I might not be able to use and follow the same teenage parenting technique with my youngest son Yahmir, who is 11 years old because he is much more stubborn than his elder brother  It is a fact that in this era almost everything has changed.   We need to face these realities and find ways on how we can adapt to it. Dating is now called “hooking up”, whether it’s by facebook, plurk, skype, yahoo messenger and the most common “texting”, that’s how mostly the teenagers will meet and chat-up members of the opposite sex.   They are spending a lot of time in these media. Well, fortunately we can also use these technologies to keep tab on our teens.   We ought to put the computer in a place that can be easily accessed by the family like the living room.   In this way, we can casually monitor their communications and put a limit in

The Magic Words

Kids always learn their firsts in our homes.   They learn to say their first word and being hands-on mothers, we were the first ones to hear it from them. They learn how to walk, learn how to write and draw through our effort and guidance.   These first experiences and achievements of our children gave us a bundle of joy. This is a moment of lifetime happiness for us. To see how they grow and how they achieve their little ways of joyous success in their endeavors. We also instill into their young minds the proper values and good manners.   We do not stop teaching and honing them to become good people. We teach them the right conduct and implement discipline to prepare them in facing the society and the reality of the outside world. There are three magic words that will help them make a better person as they grow old. 1.       The use of “po and opo” ( A kind of respect use among elders in the Filipino culture) 2.       “Thank you”.   Teaching kids how to express gratitude upon rece

Cleaning 101: The Bathroom

Image
How often do you clean your Bathroom/Comfort room?  Based on hygienic purposes, it is best recommended to clean it daily.  It is the part of the house where bacteria and germs accumulates fast. I personally clean our bathroom on a daily basis, cleaning it before I take a bath. It may seem so tiring to do it everyday but I was used to it.  I want my bathroom and kitchen to be the cleanest part of the house and this is how I clean it:  Remove the shower curtain first, wash, then hang to dry. I get tired of cleaning it everyday so I removed it and just put it on again if we have visitors to come over (lol). Open windows and the door, then slip on rubber gloves before you grab your favorite tile spray cleaner or in my case I use a mixture of detergent soap and Domex cleaning agent (bleach can be an alternative) in a small pail. Other cleaning materials I use are:  big scrubber sponge, cleaning brush, toilet brush, a microfiber cloth and floor mop. I start with the hard to reac

ELD Posture Correction Cushion and Travel Bags

Image
The proper sitting posture helps to enhance concentration, especially to students, office workers and bloggers like me who hardly leaves the chair for long hours.  A correct sitting posture is to sit with your back straight and your hips touching the back of the chair.  Keep your neck inline with the upper back. At the end of the day, my husband and I always complain of lower back pain due to long hours of sitting.  My husband’s lower back pain is due to long distance driving while in my case, I am seated almost all day in front of my laptop to work on my articles for my blogs.  I have been buying the sitting and back rest cushions for years now but they are not helping in any way.  They easily wore out and not comfortable to use. I became interested again in buying a new sitting and back rest cushions upon seeing this Memory Foam Cushions of  Eld Posture Correction Cushions. I am aware that poor posture may become a major cause of disk and spine diseases,
